Public Library - Youth Services Manager

Sparta Free Library
- Library Director
The Sparta
Free Library is searching for a qualified individual to
serve as Director beginning September 2008. Sparta,
Wisconsin is the located 20 minutes from La Crosse, 2
hours from Madison, and is the county seat for Monroe
County. The city of Sparta has a population of 9,201
and is the headquarters of the Sparta-Elroy Bike Trail.
The library is housed in a beautiful Carnegie building
with a staff of 8, a collection of approximately 50,000
items and an annual budget of $300,000 plus.
The position
includes supervision and management of staff, technology
and library building, material selection, finances, and
reference services. Candidates should have experience
working with municipalities and community leaders, and
have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computer literacy skills are a must. Position is
accountable to the library board.
Candidates
must hold or be eligible for Wisconsin Grade 1
certification and have significant public library
experience. The position has a starting
salary of $53,000 with excellent benefits.

Blair Preston Public Library - Library Director
Blair-Preston Public Library is seeking a library
director for a 35 hour per week position. Ideal
candidate would have experience in a library setting
using an automated system; knowledge of preparing and
implementing a budget; ability to work with local
governmental body and library consortium and must be
flexible and dependable. Candidate must have
appropriate DPI library certification or ability to
obtain such license for population under 3000.

DPI
Certification: Candidates must be eligible for Grade
III Public Library Certification, which requires 54
semester credits (half in the liberal arts and sciences)
at the time of hire. Candidate chosen for this
position will be required to complete four library
courses, within four years, for regular certification.
Library
and Community: Blair is a small community of
almost 1300 people, located in beautiful west central
Wisconsin, within 50 miles of Eau Claire, La Crosse and
Winona, MN. The library has recently been
remodeled and is located in the town's historic former
music hall.
